The UW-Fond du Lac music
program offers quality music
instruction to those interested
in a major or minor in music, as
well as the general student.
UW-Fond du Lac offers four
semesters of music theory and
aural skills – certainly the
core of any music program. The
small classes and individual
attention make it possible for
each student’s composition to be
performed in recital each
semester.
Other courses offered on a
rotating schedule include:
Music Literature and
Appreciation, History of Rock
and Roll, World Music and World
Regional Geography, and
Jazz History.
The Music Department has also
been a leader in the Study
Abroad Program. Offered in
conjunction with UW-Fond du Lac
Continuing Education, students
and community members had the
opportunity to study the Roots
of Western Music and travel to
Italy in January 2005.
The UW-Fond du Lac music
program also offers private
lessons to music majors and
minors. Our applied faculty
currently includes:
Helene Schrankler, piano
Grace Jones, voice
Charles Combe, guitar
Brian Lydeen, woodwinds
Gary Miller, percussion
The life of the music program
is contained in the performing
ensembles. UW-Fond du Lac offers
experience in vocal and
instrumental ensembles.
Vocal ensembles include the
UW-Fond du Lac Chorus directed
by Cara Davis; Fond du Lac
Chamber Singers, which combines
community singers and students,
directed by
Patricia Eby; and U-FiDeLity,
a vocal jazz ensemble, directed
by Patricia Eby, associate
campus dean and music professor.
The Collegiate Wind Ensemble
is the unique combination of
students from UW-Fond du Lac and
Marian College, rehearsing on
the UW campus and directed by
Marian College faculty member
Brian Lydeen. Opportunities also
exist for small instrumental
ensemble playing.

music programs at UW-Fond du
Lac, e-mail
