Auditions set for UW-Fond du Lac Theater Departments presentation of “Proof”

Fond du Lac, Wis. - Auditions for the UW-Fond du Lac Theater Department’s Fall Production “Proof” by David Auburn will be held 3-7 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the Prairie Theater, 400 University Drive.

Those auditioning will read from a provided script and should be in and out of the audition in no more than one hour. All levels of experience are welcome. Scripts are on Reading Reserve at the UW-Fond du Lac Library. Performance Dates are November 7 – 11.

“Proof” is Winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play.

“'Proof" is an extremely well-written play that has awesome roles for two females and two males,” said Richard Gustin, director and UW-Fond du Lac communication and theater arts faculty member. “Participating in UW-Fond du Lac productions is a great way to get to know new people and develop friendships.”

In the play, 25-year-old Catherine spends years caring for her brilliant, but unstable father, a famous mathematician. She attempts to resolve familial conflicts and both humorous and romantic entanglements, as well as make a personal calculation which may have no answer according to Gustin. The play does contain adult language and content.

Class credit is available for anyone involved in UW-Fond du Lac theater productions. The class is Communication 131, Theatre Laboratory with either an acting, technical crew or stage management option.
