Fond du Lac, Wis.- Presenters are being
sought in the areas of math, science and healthy
lifestyles/nutrition for the upcoming annual
Girls+Math+Science=Opportunities (GMSO)
conference for middle school girls.
Proposals for sessions must be submitted by
June 23. Presenters can conduct one to
three 60-minute hands-on sessions at the GMSO
conference which will be held Saturday, Nov. 15,
2008 at the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac
campus.
Presenters are compensated and a supply
budget is available. Proposals are encouraged
from educators and professionals in fields such
as manufacturing, architecture, veterinary
science, dentistry, engineering, banking and
accounting.
Last year’s GMSO program attracted 200 middle
school girls from Fond du Lac and surrounding
communities. Of those responding to a survey,
98.2% indicated they would recommend this
conference to a friend.
Conference goals include increasing awareness
of careers in math and science, helping girls
understand how interests and abilities match the
skills needed in these fields and featuring
women in math and science fields as role models.
Founding sponsors for GMSO are Agnesian
HealthCare, Moraine Park Technical College and
UW-Fond du Lac.
