UW-Fond du Lac presents
music student recital on May 1
Fond du Lac, Wis. – Original composition and
solo works by University of Wisconsin-Fond du
Lac music students will be performed at a
special recital to be held at 7 p.m. on May 1 in
the Prairie Theater, 400 University Dr. The
public is welcome to attend this free event.
The evening will include solo performances by
applied music students James Blanck and Justin
Parsons on guitar, students of Charles Combe;
Jennifer Bell, Emily Kasprzak, Andy Senecal, Eva
Thelen and Katie Thompson, voice students of
Grace Jones; and Jenny Jacobs on viola, student
of Steve Schani.
The program will include original
compositions by students enrolled in the Music
Theory II course.
“The original composition is a class
assignment in which the students apply
theoretical knowledge to performance practice,”
said Patricia
Eby, UW-Fond du Lac music professor and
instructor for the course. “Students compose the
pieces following common practice period
composition guidelines, create a musical score
using the computer program ‘Finale’ and find
musicians who will perform the pieces and
rehearse with the ensemble.”
Original compositions include “Untitled” for
two pianos by Justin Parsons, “Theorendifical”
for guitar and bass by Joshua K. Loppnow,
“Voyage” for violin and viola by Jenny Jacobs
and ”Andy’s Tune” for violin and piano by Andy
