Oberreich Art Gallery Opening Reception set for March 26

FOND DU LAC – In acknowledgement of the gift from the Francis and Ruth Oberreich Foundation to name the Oberreich Art Gallery at the UW-Fond du Lac campus, the UW-Fond du Lac Foundation will host a reception and opening on Wednesday, March 26, from 5-6:30 p.m.

The public is invited to attend and view the featured work of Milwaukee artist Mark Biermann, also lead guitarist for the punk/rockabilly band Aluminum Knot Eye. Biermann’s campus exhibit will include his post-modern, deconstructivist paintings and drawings.

These pieces blur the lines between painting and drawing, high and low art—and truly capture the attitudes of Wisconsin's alternative art and music scenes. Biermann received his master’s degree in painting and drawing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts.

The new Oberreich Art Gallery is located adjacent to the University Center at UW-Fond du Lac. This gallery will be devoted to exhibitions and educational programs in the visual arts for both students and the community to enjoy.

The gift to UW-Fond du Lac was made by the Oberreich Foundation Board of Directors to honor Francis and Ruth Oberreich’s lifetime of work and commitment to the Fond du Lac community. The Oberreich Foundation carries on the beliefs and ideals first established by Francis and Ruth, including a commitment to educational programs.

UW-Fond du Lac is one of the 13 campuses of UW-Colleges which are, collectively, the freshman/sophomore liberal arts transfer institution of the UW System. The UW-Fond du Lac Foundation’s mission is to promote excellence at UW-Fond du Lac while enhancing the educational and cultural opportunities available on campus. To learn more call (920) 929-7657.
