UW-Fond du Lac Music Department presents fall concert on Nov. 19

The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Music Department’s Fall Concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 in the Prairie Theater, 400 University Dr. The public is invited to attend and admission to the concert is free.

The evening will feature two performing ensembles - UW-Fond du Lac Chorus and U-FiDeLity, UW-Fond du Lac’s vocal jazz ensemble - along with applied music students performing vocal and guitar selections.

The 50-voice UW-Fond du Lac Chorus, under the direction of Cara Davis and accompanied by Paul Thelen, will perform “Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi” from “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff; a French chanson based on Psalm 134; an intensely moving Sephardic folksong, “Adijo, Kerida,” arranged by Joshua Jacobson; and a women’s madrigal, “How Merrily We Live.”

In addition, the Chorus will perform an English folksong, “Down by the Sally Gardens,” and the Moses Hogan spiritual, “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel?”

Voice students Stacy Kraus, Eva Thelen, and Katie Thompson are performing a number of selections including the trio “Three Little Maids.” They are students of Grace Jones. Guitar selections will be performed by James Blanck, a student of Charles Combe.

U-FiDeLity, under the direction of Patricia Eby, will be performing a selection of standards including “All of Me,” arranged by Carl Stommen; “Proud Mary,” arranged by Jeff Funk; and “Stormy Weather,” arranged by Ed Lojeski.

The group will also perform a “Blues Impro” and a rendition of “Blackberry Winter” featuring soloists Josh Halbur, Heather Huff, Eva Thelen, and Katie Thompson. They will close the evening with the sizzling tune “The Joint is Jumpin’” from “Ain’t Misbehavin’.”

Visitors attending the concert should use the east parking lot and the main entrance. For more information, contact UW-Fond du Lac at 920-929-3600.
