UW-Fond du Lac offers
shorter format courses designed for working
adults this spring; first course begins Jan.

The University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac is
offering a selection of shorter, accelerated
format courses this spring designed specifically
to fit into the busy lifestyles of working
adults.
For adults balancing a job along with family
responsibilities, it can be difficult to pursue
a college degree following the traditional
college format. UW-Fond du Lac has a solution
with its series of five Fast Track courses
designed to get adults started on the path
towards a University of Wisconsin degree.
The courses are offered in three-week and
six-week sessions and are hybrid courses which
include face-to-face classroom time and an
online component. This accelerated format means
students can focus their efforts on only one or
two subjects at a time and they will have less
commute time, fewer child-care and other costs.
The Fast
Track program this spring kicks off on Jan.
28 with a three-week course designed
specifically to prepare students for this new
style of hybrid learning. The one-credit
elective course, Library and Research Seminar,
will teach the basics of using online course
software and will provide practice in online and
library research.
The Library and Research Seminar course will
meet just three times face-to-face, 5:50-7:35
p.m., on Jan. 29. Feb. 5 and Feb. 12. Additional
course work will be done online. Course
instructor is
Carolyn
Polodna, business professor.
This course is then followed by a series of
other shorter format courses in the spring
semester.
Fitness for Life begins on Feb. 18 and meets
for six weeks. This two-credit course meets
face-to-face 5:50-8:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
A six-week College Algebra course begins on
Apr. 7. This three-credit course meets
face-to-face 5:50-8:20 p.m. on Mondays and
Wednesdays.
A three-week Micro Economics course begins on
May 26. This three-credit course meets
face-to-face 5-8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays
and Thursdays. Also beginning on May 26 is a
six-week Anatomy and Physiology four-credit
course with face-to-face class meeting times to
be determined.
The UW-Fond du Lac Fast Track program enables
students to complete the
associate
degree in as little as two years as a
part-time student. These hybrid, shorter format
courses can be mixed with traditional courses
offered at UW-Fond du Lac during the 16-week
semester.
Once the associate degree is completed,
students have the option to pursue and earn one
of seven
bachelor’s degrees completion programs
available thru UW-Fond du Lac.
