Before joining the faculty at UW-Fond du Lac in Fall 2007, Frances taught film and television production courses for three years at UW-Oshkosh. As a film and video professional, Frances produces all forms of visual media, including corporate, educational and music videos, broadcast promotions, commercials and films.

Frances is the recipient of a 2008 UW Colleges Summer Research grant for a film production project that will serve as a unique form of film production, involving students in the process. Click here to read more about the filming of "Test Day."

Originally from Southern California, Frances earned her B.A. in Film Studies and Cultural Anthropology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She earned her M.F.A. in Film Production from New York University and worked as a freelance producer in New York before moving to Wisconsin in 2000.

She continues to freelance as a Writer/Producer at Milwaukee’s ABC affiliate station, WISN-TV. Frances also produces films for her Writer/Director husband, Troy Perkins, an Assistant Professor in Radio/TV/Film at UW Oshkosh. They live in Neenah and have two children.

She has produced two short films - "Brothers" and "Tractor For Sale" in collaboration with her husband. Trailers for these two short films can be seen on the production website www.northtownproductions.com, along with other examples of  recent projects.

"Brothers" competed in the Wisconsin's Own category at the Wisconsin Film Festival, April 3-6, 2008 in Madison.
